Lavender oil. Mixed with other essential oils, such as peppermint, lavender oil is effective in repelling parasites, calming the nervous system and aiding cancer healing.

Mint oil. It is mainly used when you want to quickly cool certain parts of the body, for example after subjecting the dog to intense effort, such as a competition, a long walk or a day of games.

They must be used with care

Although, in general, the use of essential oils is healthy for pets, it should be done with caution and moderation. As we have said, animals respond more quickly to the action of these substances than humans. In addition, attention should be paid to irritation if the oil is applied topically or to possible poisoning from accidental ingestion.

Cats

Particular care must be taken when using these oils on cats, because the chemicals they contain are not eliminated immediately and can be toxic to the animal’s liver and nervous system. Furthermore, the greater olfactory sensitivity of felines will cause a strong and penetrating scent perceived by a human being, even harmful to the cat.

If after using an aromatic oil on your cat you notice strange postures, a tendency to flee or other unusual behaviors, it is probable not only that the application is not having the desired effect, but that the animal is suffering from the effects. collateral.

Dogs

The case of dogs is slightly different; in fact they are a little less sensitive to the use of aromas which can be done through nebulisation, application on the skin or orally.

The weight of the dog is one of the decisive elements in determining the amount of aromatic oil we must use.

Among the uses of essential oils on dogs we remember the treatment of infections, treatments against parasites, against skin disorders, rheumatic pains, digestive difficulties and the preparation of lotions for dog hygiene.

Domestic birds

Essential oils are also very effective on domestic birds. Various studies have shown the protective effect of some oils, such as in salmonella prevention.

Among the oils that bring the most benefits to our pets, we find coconut oil. The so-called ” Giardia ” is a fairly common intestinal disease in many animals. Coconut oil helps prevent and cure it.

To get the most benefits it is necessary to use a cold pressed organic coconut oil, otherwise we risk losing fatty acids and valuable nutrients.

Coconut oil helps stabilize the animal’s metabolism, aids in the absorption of nutrients, regulates gastrointestinal and digestive disorders, aids in the removal of dead hair and even prevents bad breath.

In case of skin allergies, coconut oil can be of great help ; it also prevents fungal infections, disinfects wounds, stimulates healing, improves overall the animal’s resistance to disease.

Coconut oil is also an excellent nutrient  and is good for the skin of all animals, especially horses, birds, dogs and cats. Finally, it has another advantage: when the animal proves insensitive to the effect of other aromatic oils, it is generally very receptive to the scent of coconut.
